ST3 FAQ
General Questions
What is the date of the event? Race day is June 26-28, 2026
What is the exact location of the event? The entire event will take place in Fernie, BC, at Coal Creek Campground – 120 Coal Creek Road
What distances are available? In TransRockies fashion, we will offer both a Long Course distance and a Short Course distance for riders to choose from. Please note: all riding distances are approximate. We have done our best to ensure that each distance is accurate but based on the routes chosen, it is sometimes difficult to be exact. We know how you hate to be short-changed!
Can I “Mix & Match” my 3-day entry between the Long Course & The Short Course ? Yes, if you want to do all 3 days, but "mix & match" the long course & short course distances each day (ex: Day 1 long course, Day 2 Short Course, Day 3 Long Course), you can do that, however please note that you won't be up for any stage prizes, etc. For this, you'll need to register in one of the distances (Long Course or Short Course), then at package pick-up on event day, you'll need to come to the Race Office tent to let us know which distances you plan on doing on which day so that we can inform the timing team (and so that we aren't looking all over the course for you)
Where should I park for the event? As Fernie is a small town with limited parking, we recommend riding to the start line each stage from your accommodations. Parking at the Montane Barn for Package Pickup and Stage 1 will be on Coal Creek Road. For the Ride & Roast on Saturday parking will once again be on Coal Creek Road.
Will shuttles be provided for Stage 2 Sparwood to Fernie? For this stage the plan will be to have all participants drive to the start in Sparwood, plenty of parking will be available. Post ride shuttles will be provided to return and pick up your vehicle from the Montane Barn area.
We do encourage car-pooling for the stage or having someone drop you off. The WhatsApp group has been created and was sent out in a previous newsletter.
What about smoky conditions? Smoke from fires either nearby or distant may also impact the event and conditions can be variable from location to location. In the case that wildfire smoke is present, we will use the Canadian AQHI rating from the closest reliable source to measure air quality. If the AQHI is 7 or higher at the time of the start the stage will be cancelled. If the AQHI is less than 7 but higher than 4 the race director may modify the stage by neutralizing or shortening it in the interest of rider safety.

What sort of bike should I use for the event? An XC or Trail mountain bike would be your best option for this event. The courses will offer some challenging climbs, as well as descents - all of which can be handled on this type of bike.
*E-bikes are currently not permitted.
Do I need any mandatory gear? We don’t have any dedicated mandatory gear for this event; however, we recommend a certified bike helmet, a spare tube and basic tools with you in case anything happens while out on course. We do not have mechanics on course so being able to do minor fixes yourself is important.
Can I buy the Tech Package after I have already signed up? Yep, you can add it to your order here: https://www.movemint.cc/events/fernie_singletrack_3_2026/merchandises
If I didn’t buy the Tech Package, can I still get service from the mechanics? Yes, you can use our mechanics even if you didn’t buy the tech package, however, please note that timing for service would depend on how many people have bought the package (as this gives them priority service). Mechanics at local bike shops will also be available in case our mechanics become too busy.
Where are the aid stations located for each distance? The check points/aid stations are usually no more than 15 km apart. Each stage will usually have 2 check points. Short course routes may have one checkpoint on shorter days. Please note that this can vary depending on the access points for the vehicles to get all materials to the check point. Check points/aid station locations will be listed on the course maps.
What’s available at the aid stations? Our aid stations are fully stocked with, F2C electrolytes, gels, water, chips, fruit, M&M’s, candy, cookies, and much more!
Can we have a support crew or feed station on course or at the aid stations? No. Outside support crew or feed stations are not allowed anywhere on course due to limited access & space on course. We have fully stocked aid stations as mentioned above so you’ll be well taken care of! We also encourage riders to carry whatever products they like with themselves during the ride.
What if I am not feeling up to the distance I registered for while out there? No problem, simply come to the timing tent immediately after you cross the finish line and give your name and they can make the change for you, so that you are in the correct results.
