Sparwood to Fernie — The Wild Connection
Stage 2 takes riders on an epic point-to-point journey from the coal-mining town of Sparwood, BC, back to the heart of Fernie. This is adventure riding at its best — a true mountain link-up that showcases the raw beauty and rugged terrain of the Elk Valley.
Expect a mix of fast forest roads, remote singletrack, and alpine-style climbs that reward you with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. The route blends adventure and endurance, connecting some lesser-ridden trails with the flowy, technical goodness Fernie is known for.
It’s a day that feels like an expedition — one that will test your legs, fuel your spirit, and remind you why stage racing in the Rockies is unlike anything else. By the time you roll back into Fernie, you’ll have earned every pedal stroke — and maybe a cold beer, too.
