TransRockies Returns to Its Roots with the Fernie Singletrack 3

New three-day mountain bike stage race launches in Fernie, BC – the birthplace of North American MTB stage racing.

FERNIE, BC — November 1, 2025 — The TransRockies Race Series is proud to announce its return to the legendary trails of Fernie, British Columbia, with the launch of the Fernie Singletrack 3 (ST3) — a new three-day mountain bike stage race set to debut June 26–28, 2026.

The Fernie Singletrack 3 marks a full-circle moment for TransRockies, returning to the town where North American mountain bike stage racing was born. From 2002 to 2014, Fernie hosted the iconic TransRockies Challenge and later multiple stages of the Singletrack 6 event. With over 20 years of experience producing world-class multi-day cycling events, TransRockies is once again bringing riders from around the world to experience Fernie’s legendary singletrack.

“Fernie has always been at the heart of the TransRockies story,” said Aaron McConnell, President of TransRockies. “It’s where mountain bike stage racing found its home in North America, and we’re thrilled to return with a fresh, world-class experience that celebrates the trails, the community, and the adventure that defines Fernie.”

Three Days of Epic Riding in the Canadian Rockies

The Fernie Singletrack 3 will welcome both pro and amateur riders, offering Miner (longer) and Prospector (shorter) distance options designed to balance fun, flow, and challenge. Over three days, riders will explore Fernie’s incredible diversity of trails, from alpine ridgelines to lush valley singletrack.

Route highlights include:

A south-side stage through the Ridgemont and Montane trail networks, featuring classic flow and views of the Lizard Range.

A point-to-point stage from Sparwood to Fernie via the Elk Valley Trail.

A park side finale based at the Elk Valley Nordic Centre, showcasing some of the region’s most technical and rewarding riding.

Community, Culture, and Trail Stewardship

True to TransRockies tradition, riders and spectators can unwind post-ride at “Chillville”, the festival-style basecamp returning to Fernie. For 2026, Chillville will be located at the Montane Barn, next to the new Coal Creek Camping and RV, just minutes from downtown and surrounded by the Montane trail network — creating the perfect hub for riding, recovery, and celebration.

The event is presented in partnership with Tourism Fernie, with proceeds supporting the Coal Creek Heritage Society, Fernie Trails Alliance and the Sparwood Trails Alliance through trail-dedicated donations from every registration.

“Fernie is known worldwide for its trails, its mountain culture, and its community spirit,” added McConnell. “We’re here to build an event that riders return to year after year — an experience that showcases the very best of the Elk Valley.”
